A premonition

Each day began with an intense tooth brushing and feeding the birds outside the window. He reviewed all the joints and recalibrated the sensory inputs on his fingertips. Rarely did the system require major repairs—a true marvel of science!

He couldn’t recall his dreams. A pity as he enjoyed them. But today he had slept deeply, as if gathering strength for something momentous. He wasn’t feeling optimal, so he measured out some coffee, and as the beans began to grind, his vigor returned. Pleasant vibrations spread throughout his body.

He meticulously ironed his skin, smoothing out every wrinkle before donning it, still warm. The air today carried a scent of change, and he had a premonition it would be good.
